... well, that's not really the reason Sicon is digging up the driveway. Our new driveway has been pooling water in a couple of places, so Sicon came back to fix it.
We asked a local contractor to shift 100 cubic metres of dirt around the section. It was bit too much for a spade and wheelbarrow! Greg moved dirt for raised garden beds, tree plots ... and a huge hill on the front lawn. He said he normally shifted silage, so "playing with a lot of dirt" was a wonderful and welcome change.
After having my old office in the master bedroom for 4 years at our our house, my new office is spacious and gives me enough room to move and do my work. Here's my main writing and emailing desk:
... and here's the desk I use when I have to use a PC:
Some very good friends -- Kent and Elaine -- gifted us a baby pin oak tree as a welcome gift to our new home. We finally got around to getting it from the helpful people at Evergreen Nurseries, and then planting it. It turned out to be quite a "community" planting ... 5 men to lift the tree (160kg) off the trailer, and then a whole lot of people standing around watching. I get to see it out my office window, which is particularly nice.
Brian and Nathan of Sicon fame came to finish our driveway on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is now fully laid in ashphelt from Bridge Road to the garage, an area of about 500m2 ... enough for the boys to ride their bikes on, etc.
